Do the Nira pumps work without electricity?
The Nira pumps do not need electricity.

Do Nira pumps freeze?
All our well pumps are freeze-proof. The drain hole in suction pipe in top of the cylinder must be open to allow water to drain out.

Hand pumps 6B and 9 must be completely emptied of water before temperatures go below 0°C. Emptying the pump is done by disconnecting the suction pipe and pumping the pump until it is completely dry. Also remember to empty to the suction pipe before winter sets in. The ability of the seals in the pump to withstand sub-zero temperatures depends on the material they are made of and the liquid being pumped

Can the Nira pump be used in freezing temperatures?
All our well pumps can be used in freezing temperatures. Hand pumps can be used in freezing temperatures as long as the liquid to be pumped does not freeze.

Can the Nira pump be used to pump drinking water?
All our well pumps can be used to pump drinking water. The other pumps are not suitable for drinking water due to the very fact that water remains standing inside them.

Do Nira pumps rust?
Nira 67 is completely rust proof. Hand pump Nira 6B can be also made completely rust proof.

How much suction pipes can be installed in the Nira pump?
For Nira 67 the maximum length of the suction pipe is 6 metres. If the suction pipe is longer than 1.5 metres a bottom valve must be fitted. The pump’s cylinder can be lowered up to a maximum of 21 metres using 0.5, 1.0 or 3.0 metre pipe modules. The maximum depth the pump can reach is therefore 12.5 metres. The maximum depth of the Nira 67 is 27.5 metres from the well cover. For Nira 1 and Nira 3B the maximum length of the suction pipe is 6 metres. If the suction pipe is longer than 1.5 metres a bottom valve must be fitted. The pump’s cylinder can be lowered up to a maximum of 6 metres using 0.5, 1.0 or 3.0 metre pipe modules. The maximum depth the pump can reach is therefore 12.5 metres from the base flange. To hand pumps Nira 6B and Nira 9 can be installed without a bottom valve 4 metres suction pipe, and 8 metres with a bottom valve. A one meter vertical lift is the equivalent of around 10 meters of horizontal suction flow or pressure.

Is the Nira pump heavy to use?
The pump is not heavy to use. Even children can use Nira pumps.

How much pressure do well and hand pumps develop?
The pumps can lift liquid to a height of 10 metres, so they are able to create a pressure of 1 bar. Antique models 1 and 3 do not create any pressure.

The Nira pumps are made in Sastamala, Finland. We have our own foundry and we are proud to manufacture the pumps ourselves from start to finish.

Does the Nira pump need annual maintenance?
The Nira pump does not require annual maintenance. If you use Nira 6B and 9 to pump water, you must drain the water completely before temperature drops below 0°C. Emptying the pump is done by disconnecting the suction pipe and pumping the pump until it is completely dry.

How long the warranty is?
The warranty for well pumps is three years. Nira Ace 316 has a five-year warranty. Nira 6B, Nira 2 and Nira 9 has has a two-year warranty.

Do Nira pumps have certifications?
In Finland, hand pumps are not subject to any certification, so there are no certificates for the hand pumps. Nira 67 playground pump fulfills the requirements for playground equipment (EN 1176-1) and products are marked with the CE marking.
